Founded by the late English designer Lee Alexander McQueen. He left school aged 16 and was offered an apprenticeship at the traditional Savile Row Taylor Anderson & Shephard and then at Gieves & Hawks. Following his apprenticeship he completed a Masters degree in Fashion Design at London’s Central Saint Martin’s. He showed his MA collection in 1992, which was famously bought in its entirety by Isabella Blow, who was said to have persuaded Lee McQueen to become known by his middle name Alexander.
Today the brand is under the creative direction of Sarah Burton who worked along side Lee McQueen for many years, and who famously created the gown worn by Catherine Middleton as she wed Prince William, becoming the Duchess of Cambridge.
Alexander McQueen’s jewelry has a signature look that is in many ways a fabulous Gothic drama and often features the British brand’s iconic skull designs.
